Chinois Ibiza To Bring PORTSIDE Back To Ibiza Port For A Second Free Party – Electric Mode

Building on the success of its first PORTSIDE event this summer, Chinois Ibiza returns to Ibiza Port for another free music night on Friday 11th September.

The free event will once again turn the port into a dancefloor with a line-up of international names and Ibiza favourites for the open-air celebration which runs from 6pm to midnight.

Chinois residents Mahmut Orhan and Major League DJz will be taking on the decks, along with Melanie Ribbe B2B Manu Gonzalez and Andrea Lane.

It comes hot on the heels of the success of June’s PORTSIDE party which drew thousands of people to Ibiza Port. The series is created as Chinois’ “love letter to Ibiza” and is designed to celebrate the island, its community and the people who make its nightlife so special.

Turkish DJ and producer Mahmut Orhan will be bringing his own mix of deep house, nu-disco and indie dance to the waterfront. Orhan is recognised for mixing electronic production with influences from other cultures and live instrumentation, building an international following with his melodic and atmospheric sound.

Joining him are Major League DJz, the South African twin brothers Bandile and Banele Mbere. The duo have become leading lights in the global Afro House movement, a fusion of African electronic music with hip-hop and South African jazz. They’re also the brains behind Chinois’ Friday nite residency, Echoes of Tomorrow.

Melanie Ribbe will be joined by Ibiza-based DJ and producer Manu Gonzalez for a back-to-back set. Ribbe has also become a familiar face on the island, performing at major international events and releasing music on respected labels. Gonzalez however is a name that is becoming known in Ibiza’s underground mixing electro, Detroit techno, influences of flamenco and other electronic genres.

Completing the PORTSIDE line-up is Andrea Lane, a Hungary-born Ibiza-based DJ who has played at events and venues including Defected, The Masquerade and La Troya. “Lane has already established himself as one of the island’s upcoming talents with releases on labels like Ultra and Golden Recordings.

The party will be the perfect warm-up for the night ahead. When PORTSIDE is done, partygoers can head to Chinois for the latest edition of Major League DJz’s Echoes of Tomorrow, kicking off at 11:30pm.

The celebrations go on with Major League DJz joined by Mahmut Orhan, Alan Dixon and Niiomi at the afterparty.

For Chinois, PORTSIDE is more than simply throwing another party. The event is designed to bring together Ibiza’s residents, workers, businesses and visitors and celebrate the island’s unique sense of community and culture through music, the club says.

The club also expressed its gratitude to the Ibiza Town Council, the Balearic Islands Port Authority, the Ibiza Port Neighbours and Businesses Association, the La Marina de Ibiza Businesses Association, the Calle de la Virgen Business Association and the Es Pratet Residents Association for their support.

With another free party at Ibiza Port and an all-star night at Chinois, PORTSIDE’s second edition is set for another memorable chapter in the club’s ongoing Ibiza celebration.
