The Moshville Times – Mayday Parade celebrate 20th anniversary with new single Blame It On The Youth

The pop-punk legends in Mayday Parade have officially kicked off May Day by dropping their latest single, “Blame It On The Youth”. This track isn’t just a standalone banger, though… it’s a teaser for the final instalment of their ambitious three-part album trilogy. The band are currently celebrating twenty years of making us all feel things, and this trilogy is a massive nod to that journey.

This whole project is a bit of a full-circle moment for the Tallahassee outfit. It marks their first self-release since their 2006 debut EP, Tales Told By Dead Friends – the one they famously used to hawk in the car parks of the Vans Warped Tour. That DIY spirit clearly paid off, as they’ve since racked up over 1.4 billion streams and multiple platinum records. The first two parts of this trilogy, Sweet and Sad, landed in 2025, and now they’re ready to wrap things up in style.

“Blame It On The Youth” is an anthemic number that captures that reckless feeling of being young. The song actually started with a chorus written by drummer Jake Bundrick, with the rest of the guys jumping in to flesh out the verses and melodies. Guitarist Brooks Betts says the process was properly collaborative, and they’ve ended up with something they’re all dead proud of. It’s got that classic Mayday Parade heart but with a fresh energy that proves they aren’t just resting on their laurels.

We’ve been following the band’s antics for a long time now – you can even check out our chat with Joe from Eternal Boy where he mentions playing the Four Chord Music Festival alongside them, and then there’s our review of their recent show at the Hydro in Glasgow. While the band are busy hitting the festival circuit across the pond this summer, including spots at Sonic Temple and the returning Vans Warped Tour, we’ll be keeping an eye out for when they eventually bring these new tunes over to the UK.
