HINDOWA – Warchief 2: The Cure (Mixtape) (Copy)

Portland rapper HINDOWA returns with Warchief 2: The Cure, a 17-track mixtape that continues to carve out his place in the alternative hip hop scene. Led by the raw and introspective single Honcho’s Dead, the project blends lo-fi production, conversational lyricism, and deeply personal storytelling.

As the first member of his Liberian family born in the US, HINDOWA draws heavily on his family’s history of migration and resilience following the Liberian civil war. Those themes of identity, perseverance, and self-discovery run throughout the Warchief series, with The Cure offering his most vulnerable and experimental work to date.

Inspired by the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Vince Staples, and KOTA the Friend, HINDOWA embraces an intentionally rough around the edges sound. Unpolished vocal takes and subtle studio imperfections give the mixtape a documentary like feel, adding to its emotional weight rather than distracting from it.

Lead track Honcho’s Dead perfectly captures the project’s balance of introspection and intensity, serving as a compelling introduction to an artist continuing to push the boundaries of alternative hip hop.
