Based out of Copenhagen, Denmark, seasoned composer and multi-instrumentalist Nils Lassen has returned with an absolutely sensational new offering, “Somersault”. This new offering has a spellbinding amount of atmosphere surrounding it, with his dreamy vocals adorning the track from the very outset…. abeautifully atmospheric and nostalgic dream-pop gem overflowing with depth and elegance. The instrumentation on this is actually rather delightful too, with some key tones mixed in with ethereal backing vocals, giving you this giant canvas to listen to whilst his vocals caress it seamlessly.Once more, we have to reference his nostalgic feel, as we have mentioned in a previous…
Oswald Slain returns with Heaven Is The Place, a bruised, funny, and surprisingly tender new single built around pub gardens, small pleasures, and the strange clarity that comes from sitting still for once. Recorded in Fitz’s DIY home studio with Ryan Rogers of Mumble Tide, mixed by Jon Logan, and mastered by Pete Maher, Heaven Is The Place leans into driving drums, wide soundscapes, fuzzy retro-rock warmth, and Fitz’s mix of humour and damage. Very pub. Very human. Slightly unwell in the best way.Fitz says:What is heaven to you? Is it a pub garden on a crisp Summer’s day, a…

B52sB52s | DEVOO2, London20th June 2026Quirky titans of early-days-MTV B52s and DEVO bring their respective eccentricity, via their Cosmic De-Evolution Tour, to London’s O2 for a very special and nostalgic evening. For anyone who has never been to the O2 before, for some of us it will never stop being the Millenium Dome, purpose-built to house the Millenium exhibition – then later recommissioned as a music and entertainment centre, with London’s largest arena at its centre. A gobsmacking amount of money was spent on the recommissioning, and the acoustics. However, the sound is rarely not echoey and vacuous – something to…
Karen Dió has dropped a new single, Free Yourself, and announced her second EP Fugaz. “Funnily enough, Free Yourself is a song that I dreamed of. Most of the time I unfortunately forget the songs by the time I’m awake, but I’m glad I remembered this one,” Karen says. “Later the same day, I decided to work on it and the melody of the chorus immediately came. When I showed the embryo of it to Matt (Bigland of Dinosaur Pile-Up, Karen’s husband and writing partner), he immediately was like, ‘That’s a hit!’ so we started to write the rest. “During…
Deep, reflective alt-americana that certainly rocks.Ain’t Never Moving On marks a new chapter for the band. It is their first album in almost a decade, and it is certainly well worth the wait. With ten new songs, it feels like a very mature album that bowls along very nicely indeed while still having a pleasantly reflective feel about it.Having formed in Victoria. They cut their teeth in the bars across Canada with their particular brand of jangly guitar-driven, tougher americana and quickly got a reputation as ‘dive bar warriors’ with a crowd-pleasing blend of rockier songs and a number of…
Somewhere I have a cassette tape of this session, recorded from the TV using the tiny built-in audio mic on my radio cassette player; very low tech. The recording was further embellished with random sneezes from my Dad, particularly irritating at the time. This Old Grey Whistle Test special from The Shepherd’s Bush Theatre was one of the first times I’d ‘witnessed’ Skynyrd and 51 years later I still absolutely love this band, this song and Second Helping, the album it was taken from, a southern rock masterpiece and their best by a country mile. This song is of course a…

“I said I was ready to die recently, and I think I was exaggerating,” said Leonard Cohen with an inscrutable smile towards the end of his charmed life. “I’ve always been into self-dramatisation. In fact, I intend to live forever.” His immortality is proceeding very nicely indeed. There are murals in Montreal and a bronze statue in Vilnius. There have been interactive exhibitions in New York and lavish biographical TV dramas in Norway. Now, ten years after his death, this documentary of his Montreal memorial tribute concert, lovingly curated by his son Adam finally emerges in the UK. It was…
