MoBlack Returns With Immersive Rework Of Djanka Diabatés Mounkera – Electric Mode

MoBlack returns with a deeply immersive rework of Djanka Diabaté’s ‘Mounkera’, bringing his signature sense of depth, groove and propulsion to a song rooted in cultural identity and emotional power.

At the forefront of the Afro House movement for decades, Mimmo Falcone, aka MoBlack, has played a pivotal role in taking the genre from its African roots to dancefloors around the world. As a producer, DJ, selector and A&R, his sophisticated taste and genre defying approach have helped shape the evolving electronic underground, while his music continues to explore the space between House, Electronic, Melodic and Techno.

His artistic identity has been deeply shaped by ten years spent calling Ghana home, where he developed an even deeper connection to African culture, music and its ability to communicate beyond words. As a DJ, he is known for creating immersive, high energy experiences across intimate clubs and major festivals, while his studio work is defined by texture, soul, grit and an instinct for timeless sound.

That cultural connection sits at the heart of his reimagining of ‘Mounkera’. Built around the timeless presence of Djanka Diabaté’s voice, MoBlack transforms the track into a hypnotic dancefloor experience without losing the soul of the original. Euphoric melodies rise through dense, resonant layers, while intricate percussion and a weighty low end move through the body, each element folding naturally into the next. There is a distinctly feminine energy at its core, poised, sensual and self assured, with a subtle swagger that gives the track its edge.

For MoBlack, the starting point was always the voice.

“I’ve always been drawn to music that carries a strong cultural identity and can communicate something beyond words. When I first heard Djanka Diabaté’s ‘Mounkera’, her voice immediately stayed with me. There was something timeless, raw and deeply emotional about the original that I felt could speak just as powerfully in a completely different musical context.”

Rather than simply placing the original vocal over a new production, MoBlack set out to build an entirely new musical world around Djanka’s voice, keeping it at the emotional centre of the record while introducing the hypnotic rhythmic energy that defines his own sound.

The production develops with deliberate restraint. A focused arrangement allows the vocal to breathe, while percussion, groove and subtle electronic textures gradually emerge around it. Organic warmth meets club driven momentum, creating a track that feels equally at home in an intimate listening environment and on a packed dancefloor.

At its heart, MoBlack’s ‘Mounkera’ is about connection between musical worlds, generations and cultures. It reflects his belief in electronic music as a way of rediscovering powerful music from the past and allowing it to reach new audiences through a contemporary perspective.

With its soulful vocal, hypnotic groove and immersive production, MoBlack’s reimagining of ‘Mounkera’ becomes a bridge between heritage and the present, preserving the emotional essence of the original while giving it a new life on the global dancefloor.
