Top DJs Not To Be Missed In Italy Between Late May And Early June – Electric Mode

Summer is here for Italian clubs, a time for open-air electronic music in the company of a host of top DJs. We’ve selected some of the highlights scheduled for late May and early June.

The Iberian duo MËSTIZA will perform at King’s Club in Jesolo, Venice on Monday 1 June. Their sound blends the cultural roots of flamenco with the energy of electronic music. Last month, they released their second album, “Spanish Chica”, just days before making their debut at Coachella in the US. They will arrive at King’s fresh from their Sunday residency at Hï Ibiza. Upcoming guests at King’s include James Hype and Pirupa on Saturday 13 June, followed by Notre Dame and Draxx on Saturday 20 June.

Also on Monday 1 June, the third edition of Spirit of Trance will take place at Sottomura Open Air in Ferrara, featuring some of the genre’s leading names including Aly & Fila, Bryan Kearney, Ferry Corsten, Giuseppe Ottaviani, John O’Callaghan and Paul van Dyk. Italian DJ and producer Giuseppe Ottaviani, one of trance music’s leading figures, has once again secured a place in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs, ranking at number 89. His latest single, “Astra”, was recently released via Armada Music. Ferrara’s electronic programme continues later in the month, with Paul Kalkbrenner set to perform in Piazza Ariostea on Friday 20 June.

At Tinì Soundgarden in Cecina, Tuscany, the party runs across two dates. On Sunday 31 May from 6pm, the Flora Sonica party welcomes Franky Rizardo, Ale de Tuglie, Grace Arribas, Black Angus and Baccarat. Franky Rizardo continues to grow his global profile through his Flow brand, which now spans releases, radio shows and events, including stages at festivals such as Extrema Outdoor and Tomorrowland. Then on Monday 1 June from 11pm, the [OVER] Techno Party will host Belgian DJ and producer Novah, whose recent releases on Tomorrowland Music have further accelerated her rise.

Villa delle Rose in Misano Adriatico, Romagna opens its weekend on Friday 29 May with Clorophilla, featuring Bob Sinclar, Ciuffo, Nicola Zucchi and Tanja Monies. On Saturday 30 May, Vita returns to the venue to celebrate its fifth anniversary, with music from Saraga and Davide Squillace. A special edition of Vidaloca takes place on Monday 1 June, bringing together urban sounds and pop influences. Guests already confirmed at Villa delle Rose throughout June include Miguelle & Tons on Saturday 6 June, Notre Dame on Friday 12 June, Jamie Jones on Saturday 13 June, Satori on Friday 19 June, Dennis Cruz on Saturday 20 June and Avangart Tabldot on Saturday 27 June, with the latter appearing as special guests for the venue’s 32nd anniversary celebration.

Among the many other events taking place across Italy in late May and early June, highlights include Benny Benassi at Phi Beach in Arzachena on Saturday 30 May and Carl Cox at Club Partenopeo in Naples on Sunday 31 May. In Milan, the winter club season may have ended, but major electronic events are set to return to the former Macello venue with Vision Open Air on Saturday 13 June, featuring East End Dubs and Franky Rizardo. One of the city’s newest venues, Nomad Club, is also preparing to launch, with its opening scheduled for Thursday 28 May, according to its newly launched Instagram page
