WhereIsFenix Debuts Curiosity, A Three-Chapter Musical Journey – Electric Mode

New York City-born and Milan-based electronic artist WhereIsFenix draws upon House, Minimal, Electronica and Jazz influences across his debut album ‘Curiosity’, shaped by years spent between New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Berlin, Detroit and Milan, with the release seeing him present 18 tracks across three chapters on his own label,Legacy System, on digital and forthcoming on vinyl.

Held together by movement rather than genre, ‘Curiosity’ is rooted in House, drawing on percussion, found sound and raw club music. It marks the label’s first album-length release and the beginning of an open-ended sequence, structured in chapters, with more to follow.

    WhereIsFenix comments:

“Curiosity is what happened when I stopped looking for a place in the scene and started creating my own universe. Every record I’ve made carries a piece of my life. The album is just the evidence that I was there. Some people chase the sound. I came back to collect what it owed me. I left no fingerprints on the door. Just music in the rooms of the mind.”

Across the three beginning chapters, ‘Curiosity’ draws on a wide cross-section of the electronic music spectrum, bringing together pioneering voices in House, artists shaping its present and a new generation making their mark. From Robert Owens’ place in House music history to the contemporary energy of Patrick Mason, to the new generation sounds of Dantiez Saunderson, alongside longstanding underground connections with Boris Werner, the collaborations reflect the breadth of WhereIsFenix’s musical world, moving between generations, scenes and sensibilities without losing sight of the underground roots that hold it together.

Chapter I, ‘Wander Where Wonder Wanders’, centres on discovery, with stripped-back rhythms, leftfield textures and club music that leaves room for things to happen. Interludes run into the tracks instead of sitting apart, allowing the record to unfold as one continuous piece. Chapter II, ‘Motion Not Wasted’, is the most physical part of the album, bringing together peak-time and heads-down moments with unusual selections, left raw rather than heavily polished. Chapter III, ‘Sueños y Memorias’, turns inward, drawing on Deeper House, personal recordings and voices to move closer to the people and places behind the music, while keeping the dancefloor in view.

WhereIsFenix is a DJ, music producer and curator born in Queens and now based in Milan. His sound is birthed from the New York underground and years spent moving between cities and scenes. While making ‘Curiosity’, he kept his sets rare and unannounced, playing special gigs that were never advertised. House sits at the centre of the album, with Minimal, Jazz, Electronica, Deep House and raw club music moving through it.

Born in Queens to an Argentine father from Esquina, Corrientes, and a Colombian mother from Bogotá, and now based in Milan, WhereIsFenix brings a perspective shaped by different places, communities and club cultures. From cities near and far, these influences surface not as a travel diary, but through the album’s rhythms, textures, voices and memories. The result is a record that balances the physicality of the dancefloor with a more personal sense of connection, expressing sounds for the late hours and the listener.

With ‘Curiosity’, WhereIsFenix brings together the sounds, places and people that have shaped his musical perspective. Rooted in the dancefloor but extending beyond it, the album moves between raw club energy and personal memories, balancing physical movement with a more introspective approach to sound. As the first release in an open-ended sequence, it marks a new chapter in his work, made for the dancefloor, the late hours and the listener.
