Rae & Christian ft: Veba – Spellbound (Yves Schopin Remix) (Single)

Manchester duo Rae & Christian revisit one of their best loved tracks as ‘Spellbound’ receives a fresh reworking from young French producer Yves Schopin.

Originally released in 1998 and featuring the unmistakable soulful vocals of Veba, ‘Spellbound’ appeared on Rae & Christian’s acclaimed Northern Sulphuric Soul album and became a standout of the era. Almost three decades later, 16 year old Schopin breathes new life into the track, reshaping the original with a funky, polished modern soul feel equally suited to sun soaked afternoons and late night dancefloors.

Based in Amiens, France, Schopin remains an intentionally mysterious figure, preferring to let his production do the talking. His elegant take on ‘Spellbound’ connects a new generation with the legacy of Rae & Christian and Manchester’s hugely influential Grand Central Records, while retaining the warmth and soul that made the original such an enduring favourite.
