    The Beatles announce expanded Rubber Soul reissue featuring unreleased John Lennon demo – UNCUT


    The Beatles’ 1965 album Rubber Soul is to receive a major new deluxe reissue this autumn, featuring newly remixed audio and previously unheard recordings including “Little Girl”, a previously unheard John Lennon song outline that has never before been released or publicly documented.

    Universal Music Group and Apple Corps Ltd have announced that an expanded Special Edition of Rubber Soul will be released on October 2. Newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell, the collection presents the album in new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes, alongside the original mono mix, the original US Capitol album and the contemporary double A-side single “Day Tripper” / “We Can Work It Out”.

    A previously unreleased recording, “Michelle (Take 1)”, has been made available as the first preview of the project.

    The new stereo mix has been sourced directly from the original four-track master tapes, with audio restored using de-mixing technology developed by the award-winning sound team led by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films Productions Ltd.

    The expanded editions offer fans unprecedented access to the making of Rubber Soul, bringing together 24 early session recordings, including 20 previously unreleased takes and three previously unreleased home demos.

    The Super Deluxe editions also include the original mono album, the original Capitol US version and the 1965 “Day Tripper” / “We Can Work It Out” single, while the 2CD and 2LP editions feature a curated selection of demos, session highlights and outtakes.

    The 4CD and 5LP Super Deluxe editions are accompanied by an 88-page hardback book featuring a new introduction written by Paul McCartney and a foreword compiled from John Lennon’s reflections on Rubber Soul from various points throughout his life. The book also includes rare photographs, detailed recording notes and essays examining the album’s creation and legacy.

    The collection will be available in a range of formats, including standard 1CD and 1LP editions, 2CD and 2LP deluxe editions, 4CD and 5LP Super Deluxe box sets and a Blu-ray edition featuring the new Dolby Atmos mix, high-resolution stereo audio and promotional films for “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It Out”. Limited-edition orange vinyl and Zoetrope vinyl editions will also be available.
