Queens Of The Stone Age are releasing a new album, titled Perfecth, and have previewed it with a new single called Insignificant Other.
QOTSA’s ninth album, which serves as the follow-up to 2023’s In Times New Roman, is arriving on October 30 via Matador Records. It also features the previously released single, Easy Street.
Recorded everywhere from New Orleans to Los Angeles, vocalist Josh Homme says: “Every song sounds like it’s from a different world. And that’s on purpose, because it’s trying to stitch together all these emotions revolving around love, lust, foolishness, and the sort of wisdom that comes as a gift from all that.”
The title Perfecth – not a typo, we promise – was chosen to reflect how perfection as a concept is dishonest because it simply doesn’t exist.
“Nothing in this world is perfect, but everything seems to be ‘perfecth’,” says Josh. “And that title is funny when you’re in a group, but it ain’t so funny when you’re alone.”
On Insignificant Other, which was recorded in just two tracks, he adds: “It’s a song about distance. About how someone can be your entire world only to simply vanish. And about the strange vertigo of being on the receiving end of that.”
Meanwhile, its music video finds a dog with the genius name of Big Chongus searching for his forever home, and it also features several of QOTSA’s dogs too.
