Matthew James Aylett reveals the cinematic song, Dreams I Never Caught

England-based singer-songwriter Matthew James Aylett has recently shared the closing single from his latest EP, titled “Past Goodbye”. It was released back in 2025, but Matthew has since focused on getting this song, “Dreams I Never Caught”, out in front of the press and ultimately your ears.

…a deeply moving, cinematic folk ballad laced with lush strings and heartfelt acoustic storytelling.

Matthew James Aylett reveals the cinematic song, Dreams I Never Caught

It’s a very simplistic track with acoustic storytelling and melancholy, with his vocals rooted seemingly in folk and Americana. The guitar tone offers you some homely feels when listening to this for the first time.

I have been recently listening to a lot more folk and roots music in the last few years, and I have to say that this could be one of the most cinematic tracks I’ve stumbled upon. I absolutely love how cinematic the track sounds in places, with strings helping to add plenty of extra layers to what is already a stunning piece of art.

If you’re looking to find a new artist in the folk and roots realm of things, then be sure to give Matthew James Aylett a listen.
