Grimsby hard rockers Mint unleash XII, the searing first single from their debut album, Pleasure Island – a deeply personal love letter to their hometown and its once world-famous theme park.

Available on all streaming platforms from today (September 1), XII tackles the often-unspoken crisis surrounding men’s mental health, with its title reflecting the devastating reality that, in the UK, a man dies by suicide every two hours – 12 men every day, 84 every week.
The single kicks off the album campaign, with the record recorded in Hull and produced by Stew Baxter of LIFE. Mint will release a new track every month from September, leading up to the full album’s release on March 1, 2027.
“Grimsby has always been at the heart of everything we do. We grew up here, we started this band here, and no matter where we’ve played, it’s always been home,” said frontman Zak Rashid.
“Pleasure Island is our love letter to the town, to the people who’ve backed us from day one, and to a place that holds so many memories for so many of us.
“We wanted this record to sound exactly like Mint. No tricks, no overthinking, no polishing the life out of it. Stew completely understood that. It’s four mates in a room, amps turned up, feeding off each other’s energy. That’s how we’ve always played, and that’s how this album deserved to be made.”
The album takes its name from Grimsby’s former world-famous Pleasure Island theme park, which closed in 2016 but still holds plenty of memories for the band. Tracks including Terror Rack, Alakazam and Boomerang take their names from rides and attractions at the park, bringing those memories back to life on the record.
Pleasure Island will be released everywhere on March 1, 2027.
