Hailing from Kampen, Netherlands, is independent singer-songwriter Jeremy Schiettekatte. The singer-songwriter has recently delivered his stunning new track “Afraid to be afraid”. This new offering is his first since his debut single came out in 2019, so a seven-year wait. For me, it sounds like it has been worth it.
…a beautifully tender, cinematic pop triumph that was well worth the seven-year wait.
One thing that is evident from the get-go is how tender and beautiful this song is. The opening sequence has a dreamy guitar entrance, seemingly sounding so bright and shimmering that it is almost like a mandolin.
It is a deeply emotive, cinematic pop track that explores the fear that everyone has: the fear of death. It is something you cannot get away from, and Jeremy does a wonderful job of putting his emotional vocals into the song, helping to guide listeners through it.
It is an absolutely stunning acoustic-driven track that has an awesome crescendo at the end, with some almost gospel-like vocals, giving you a final hit of joy. If you are into your softer rock and laid-back tracks, then this new song is something that you should put on and enjoy.
