Well, that’s it from us for this week, and what a week of good news for a change, with the election news from Brazil and Serbia, America next! In that vein, we leave you this week with a new track from the great Eliza Gilkyson. Known over the years for her reflections on the ongoing political crisis in the USA, she has created another timely and potent musical indictment of the current assault on democracy and human decency with her latest single In America. Eliza comments: “What I worry about most is that these outrageous acts of violence and cruelty, and against humans and the entire natural world, are becoming normalized to the point that we are desensitized to them, and we compartmentalize these daily onslaughts to our humanity, and decency in order to cope. ICE is daily doing what they did from the first moment they were let lose in our world, but we don’t hear about it as much in the news. I want to do everything I can to nurture my outrage. and everyone else’s as well. Therein lies our ability to stay sentient and caring and fight back every damn day.” Produced by Eliza, Don Richmond and Eliza’s son, Cisco Gilliland, In America will be her first single release off her latest record Lifeline which is due out March 2027.
