Lofi Girl, the YouTube channel that turned an animated student at her window into one of the internet’s most recognisable images, launches today Lofi House, a new 24/7 radio and original compilation made for the hours after: evenings, weekends and time with friends. Now available on music streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Pandora) the compilation features exclusive Lofi Records releases from 19 artists, whose tracks power the new 24/7 Lofi House radio. The compilation also comes to a vinyl available to pre-order, collectible pressings being Lofi Girl Shop’s signature products. Alongside the radio and the compilation, a Lofi House playlist arrives on Spotify: a selection hand-picked by the Lofi Girl teams, not all of it produced by Lofi Records, gathering the sound in one place.
Expanding the Lofi Girl universe with Lofi House
Lofi Girl started in 2015, when Dim, a French student built a YouTube channel to stream a continuous flow of instrumental hip-hop he could listen to during his gaming sessions. Turned into a 24/7 livestream in 2017, within six months it went from 100,000 to over a million subscribers who gave the girl at the window her name. While Lofi Girl is best known as a pillar of internet culture with 15.8 million YouTube subscribers and billions of views since 2015, it is first and foremost a music label. Through Lofi Records, it has released more than 8,000 tracks from over 500 artists across genres from lofi, synthwave, jazz and ambient so far, and generates billions of streams each year on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music and beyond. Its Discord, 970,000 members strong, is the largest music community on the platform; a strikingly kind and supportive community where listeners from everywhere keep each other company. Around the radio and the music label sit also an animation studio, created in 2022 that brings the visual universe of Lofi Girl to life and a gaming division since 2024.
This launch introduces Julien Maison, aka Lofi Teacher, a new character whose two great loves, the living world and music, run through everything he does.
Lofi Girl’s disappearance reveals new 24/7 radio
On September 16, Jade, better known as Lofi Girl, disappeared from the iconic study radio, sparking questions and speculation across the community.
At the same time, viewers found a new livestream showing a mysterious countdown, with a slow approach toward the façade of a school. When it reached zero, the Lofi House 24/7 radio went live with an original animation revealing Julien, the Lofi Teacher, coming home from school, dropping a vinyl on the turntable and starting to mix in his apartment at golden hour, surrounded by his friends.
Meet Julien Maison
Julien Maison is a 30-year-old high-school biology teacher, the kind of teacher students remember as the cool one. Observant and supportive, Julien encourages his students to pursue the things they care about. Aside from biology and the living world in general, his other great love is music – a passion he likes to share with his loved ones. When the day ends, he trades the classroom for the decks and becomes the Lofi House DJ.
Why Lofi House, and why now
Lofi hip hop became the sound of focus for a generation that grew up with it in the background of homework, exams and late shifts. Many of the artists on the label, though, came from the electronic scene long before lofi. Lofi House started there: from the desire to let them express their roots, and to give the Lofi Girl sound a place aside from study sessions. House is a vast territory, so the Lofi Records team took the time to find where Lofi Girl belonged inside it, exploring chill, melodic and jazz-influenced directions with artists across the roster and no ready-made answer. Lofi House is where it clicked, bringing together the movement and groove of house and the textured, atmospheric sound that has long been central to Lofi Girl.
The genre already exists and Lofi Girl is not claiming to have invented it. What is new is the choice to give it a permanent 24/7 home, built entirely with the label’s own artists. The project brings together 19 artists, for the majority long active on the label across lofi, synthwave and dark ambient releases, and others who joined it through this very project: houseverbot, Akraa, Virtua, KBS, lofi cassette, sum2k, Nabuko, yungpolar, maru mori., Zimbr, Erwo/ Erwin Do, volca, khin, M1NT, blnkspc_, Jeff for Sale, Visual Stimulation and Leyona Music.
Among the contributors, houseverbot, Akraa, KBS and lofi cassette played a particularly important role in shaping the project’s artistic direction and helping define Lofi Records’ interpretation of Lofi House.

It’s been great to see them explore new genres and broaden their musical direction over the years. I started making EDM when I was 15, so having the opportunity to combine the music I grew up producing with the music I now make for a living feels very natural. “I was lucky enough to start working with Lofi Girl in 2021, through a collaboration on DLJ’s album ‘Time Capsule.’ […]. Then I had the chance to be among the first artists to release a synthwave album when Lofi Records launched the genre and its radio [in 2023]. Getting to take part regularly in the introduction of new musical genres, as it is the case here with Lofi House, is a real privilege. Since I started producing music with sub-genres like EDM, trap and future bass, and more recently moved into house, I of course jumped at the chance to start a Lofi House project, which blends sub-genres and influences I’ve always loved.”, KBS
Every frame of Lofi House is also made in-house by Lofi Studio, the team behind the Lofi Girl visual universe.
