Electric Mode had the pleasure of reviewing The Prodigy at Utilita Arena in Birmingham on 18th April, where the adored band delivered a high-intensity live performance that demonstrated their continued strength as a headline act.
Carl Cox was the perfect opener of the night, treating the arena to a two-hour, three-deck vinyl masterclass that showcased why he remains one of the most respected figures in electronic music, blending technical skill with deep selection and flawless pacing, steadily building the atmosphere inside the arena and setting a focused, high-energy tone for the evening ahead.
From the opening moment of The Prodigy’s set, the atmosphere inside the arena shifted, with early tracks such as ‘Omen’ and ‘Voodoo People’ immediately setting a fast pace and drawing an incredible response from the crowd. The production was tightly focused, with lighting and visuals supporting the music and reinforcing the industrial character of The Prodigy’s enduring sound.
As the night continued, momentum was maintained through a rapid flurry of much-loved tracks, including ‘Climbatize’, ‘Warrior’s Dance’, and ‘Everybody in the Place’, keeping the crowd engaged and moving, with very little drop in energy across the arena. ‘Light Up the Sky’ and ‘Thunder’ introduced a brief change in tone while keeping the overall intensity.
Arguably, one of the most notable moments of the night came with ‘Firestarter’, introduced through ‘Claustrophobic Sting’, which served as a homage to Keith Flint, creating one of the strongest audience reactions of the whole night.
Later parts of the set built towards a powerful conclusion, with ‘Their Law’ and ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ driving the energy to its peak. The encore sustained this level, with ‘Breathe’ and ‘Take Me to the Hospital’ standing out before the show closed with ‘Out of Space’, ending the night on a huge note.
Overall, The Prodigy’s performance showcased their reputation for delivering uncompromising live shows built on intensity, rhythm, and audience connection, supported by a production setting that remains direct and impactful.
Following their fastest-selling sold-out UK and Ireland arena tour for April 2026, The Prodigy will bring their Warriors Dance experience to four massive outdoor shows for summer 2026. The run includes Dublin, Edinburgh, and Manchester, alongside a return to Milton Keynes Bowl, a venue they last played in 2010.
The events will feature new production and the band’s signature high-intensity live sound. The Prodigy will be joined across all four shows by Carl Cox, Andy C, David Rodigan, ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U and SCARLXRD, bringing together artists from across electronic music, drum and bass, reggae and underground genres.
