British Ghanaian rapper Benicio brings his two worlds together on vibrant new single ‘Eve’, the first taste of his forthcoming debut mixtape A Beautiful Day.
Joined by COLLINZ and SLO, Benicio blends Ghanaian HipLife with Afroswing and UK rap, building the track around a recognisable sample from HipLife legends VIP. Upbeat, romantic and infectious, ‘Eve’ explores attraction while reflecting the artist’s British upbringing and Ghanaian heritage.
“It means everything to me because I feel like it’s where my two worlds intersect,” Benicio explains. “I’m combining my interest in rap music with my Ghanaian heritage. It perfectly symbolises my upbringing in a way which feels authentic to me on all fronts.”
Originally sparked during a spontaneous studio session with SLO, the track later evolved with a verse from longtime collaborator COLLINZ and additional background vocals from Benicio’s girlfriend. Following his work with RUDEWRLD, Benicio now steps into his next chapter with ‘Eve’, offering a personal and energetic introduction to A Beautiful Day and a sound shaped by the meeting point between Ghana and the UK.
