Underground artist Draymond returns with new single “iceberb”, a hazy, stripped back rap cut that bridges internet culture with the energy of the underground club scene.
Moving between Los Angeles and Tokyo, Draymond draws on Southern melodic rap and the emotional rawness of the SoundCloud era, pairing layered vocals with an Atlanta influenced atmosphere and loose, instinctive delivery. The track was created during an intense month long run with collaborator Scarsbleedpurple, which produced more than 100 songs, with his freestyle verse helping capture the spontaneous feel of “iceberb”.
Built from YouTube beats and vocals, the record embraces a deliberately minimal and unpolished approach, allowing the performances to take centre stage. As Draymond puts it, “iceberb” is “an example of the high quality club hits we can make”, while offering an introduction to a new set of dynamics within the genre.
