Oswald Slain returns with Heaven Is The Place, a bruised, funny, and surprisingly tender new single built around pub gardens, small pleasures, and the strange clarity that comes from sitting still for once.
Recorded in Fitz’s DIY home studio with Ryan Rogers of Mumble Tide, mixed by Jon Logan, and mastered by Pete Maher, Heaven Is The Place leans into driving drums, wide soundscapes, fuzzy retro-rock warmth, and Fitz’s mix of humour and damage. Very pub. Very human. Slightly unwell in the best way.
Fitz says:
What is heaven to you? Is it a pub garden on a crisp Summer’s day, a pint of Guinness, and a Marlboro Gold. Maybe a cheeseburger? It probably is to me at this point if I’m being honest…There is an inevitable breaking point that I feel this song reflects. Between success, failure and everything in between. I often feel trapped in purgatory waiting for something to happen as an artist, surrendering to hope and suffocated by anxiety.

At its core, Heaven Is The Place is less about escapism than acceptance. A love letter to the present, to Bristol’s Sugar Loaf, and to the messy little rituals that keep people going when the big picture gets too loud.

Oswald Slain plays The Sugar Loaf in Bristol on June 26th, followed by Bredy Reunion, Kendal Calling, Wilderness, and Shambala Festival.
