DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Carlheb – Relem Carlheb (Arc 1: Self Discovery)

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Carlheb – Relem Carlheb (Arc 1: Self Discovery)In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we would like to introduce you to upcoming artist Carlheb and his brand new EP titled Relem Carlheb (Arc 1: Self Discovery).

Haitian-American independent artist, writer, and community organizer Carlheb steps fully into his own name with the release of Relem Carlheb (Arc 1: Self Discovery), a deeply personal new EP that marks the beginning of a three-part conceptual series. Translating from Haitian Creole as “Call Me Carlheb,” the project represents a significant turning point for an artist who spent a decade creating under the moniker MyCompiledThoughts.

Created entirely independently over the course of five months following the retirement of his longtime performance name in June 2026, Relem Carlheb is a project rooted in self-examination. Blending R&B and soul with Haitian and Afro-diasporic influences, Carlheb builds an intimate musical world around recurring melodic mantras, using repetition not simply as a sonic device, but as a way of processing grief, identity, loneliness, and personal transformation.

The EP’s six-track sequence opens with “Closure” featuring Westside Boogie, immediately establishing the project’s reflective atmosphere before moving through themes of isolation and self-understanding on “Loneliness Epidemic.” “Pink Matter” and “Running” featuring Shaina Rae continue the emotional exploration, while “Different” turns inward to examine individuality and the process of becoming comfortable with one’s evolving identity.

The EP ultimately circles back to “Closure,” creating a sense of return that fits naturally within a project centered on self-discovery and emotional processing.

But Relem Carlheb extends far beyond the music. The EP serves as the centerpiece of a larger multi-medium release that includes a short film compiling the project’s complete visual arc, a collection of personal essays, and a community release event taking place October 15, on the eve of Carlheb’s birthday.

That emphasis on community is central to Carlheb’s broader artistic practice. Through Konbit Lakay, a monthly Los Angeles gathering inspired by the traditional Haitian framework of collective labor and shared responsibility, he creates spaces for connection and collective reflection. His Liberé Poa ritual skincare line similarly explores physical care as an extension of personal restoration, while his ongoing Substack writing examines culture, identity, and the performance of depth.

With Relem Carlheb (Arc 1: Self Discovery), Carlheb Cemesca is not simply introducing a new artist name. He is documenting the beginning of a new creative chapter, one that brings music, literature, visual storytelling, Haitian heritage, and community together into a single evolving body of work.
