Talking Heads have reunited for a new retrospective volume, Talking Heads: New Feeling.
Due next May to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Talking Heads: 77, the book has been assembled with the participation of David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison, marking the latest collaboration between the four after decades of estrangement.
Published by Abrams, the volume gathers handwritten lyrics, rare photographs, artwork and memorabilia from across the band’s career, alongside new essays by all four members. Among the archive material are original lyric sheets for songs including “Psycho Killer” and “Life During Wartime”, plus previously unseen photographs and design sketches drawn from the band’s personal collections.
The project continues the rapprochement that began around the 2023 restoration of Jonathan Demme’s Stop Making Sense. Since then, the four members have appeared together at Q&As, interviews and promotional events, though they have consistently ruled out a return to recording or performing as Talking Heads.
New Feeling follows on from recent archival releases and expanded reissues from the Talking Heads catalogue.
