The release follows previous single “LA PRIMA” and arrives ahead of KINGH’s forthcoming debut EP, also titled DARE TO DREAM, landing 26 June. Entirely produced by Shy FX, the project continues a creative partnership that has already seen KINGH feature on tracks including “Gideon’s Charge”, “Nobu” and “100”.Born in Leeds and raised between Lake Como and Milan before returning to the UK at 17, KINGH’s sound reflects a fluid mix of influences from Erykah Badu and Funkadelic to David Bowie. That sense of movement and reinvention sits at the centre of her artistry, combining soulful songwriting with cinematic visuals she…
Daniela Lalita enters the world of TAC TAC through playful misuse, built-in Ableton tools, and a production process shaped more like a rule-free playground than a clean studio session. Featuring Vienna-based electronic artist Mietze Conte, the single follows Tiroteo and pushes Daniela’s production language into a darker, more tactile space. Pulsing electronics, stacked percussion, textured synths, and blunt vocal phrasing turn the track into what she calls “microscopic music”: detailed, physical, and slightly dangerous. The Peruvian singer-songwriter and producer explains:TAC TAC is a form of innocent rebellion and the song the EP is named after. Through the extreme playfulness and forced…
Polish atmospheric stoner and post-metal unit Sunsucker have officially released their crushing new single, “Heart”. The track serves as a visceral entry point into the band’s distinctive blend of hypnotic textures and raw emotional heavy music, and it is available now on all major digital platforms. The single was captured at WeM Studios, with the engineering, mixing, and mastering handled by Marek Kubik. Musically, “Heart” leans heavily into a deeply immersive post-stoner metal landscape. The band masterfully reject modern metal trends, opting instead to translate vulnerable psychological states into expansive, haunting soundscapes built upon a foundation of driving rhythms and thick…
What a year to be a Converge fan. They drop Love Is Not Enough in February, their first solo album for nine long years and which (in my humble opinion) is a real career highlight. It’s a proper no-frills, no-messing-about Converge album but if you want more in-depth thoughts on that one, you can check out Rick’s review here. They were announced for Outbreak Festival, playing the stacked Saturday alongside the likes of Touché Amoré, PUP, Tummyache, and Alexisonfire. I would bet good money that day will be one of the highlights of festival season this year. Then to round it…
(c) Luke Shadrick Just before tearing up the stage at Slam Dunk Festival, I caught up with my favourite accent in the world and met one of the best Scottish people ever! I spoke with Scottish alt-rock duo Vukovi to talk all things festival related, chaotic pre-show rituals and the songs that have taken on a life of their own over the years. Between circle pits, vodka Red Bulls and an unexpectedly recurring “shite” theme, Janine and Hamish proved exactly why Vukovi’s live shows have become such a force on the festival circuit. So the first question is… what’s your favourite…
Leicester, England trio Boilermen make a fearless debut with “A 1000 Words on Sound”. It’s quite a raw and punky offering, with tracks that range from 48 seconds to 8 minutes. Among the 13 tracks, you have some delightful cuts, such as the opening track “Curious Thing”, which reminds me of those classic punk bands from London in the ’70s and ’80s.Another key track on the release is “Fogging”, the second track on the release. Now, to me, this sounds a bit more ’90s and also has more of a radio appeal. If you’re not someone who likes their punk-leaning…
Seattle band finds its sound with a marvellous debut. This is an excellent album. Cosmic americana, folk with a hint of country, but forget the labels, they don’t mean anything, sit back and enjoy. This is a collection to savour. Former members of Zebra Hunt have got together in Seattle to form Fallen Oaks, and we should rejoice that they did. Lead vocalist and guitarist Robert Mercer has written a fine assembly of songs and is ably backed by Erik Bennett on bass, Mitch Leffler on drums, Zack Erb on fiddle, and the wonderful pedal steel player Paul Hutzler. Will this…
AUK Shortcuts: Paula Boggs Band, David Lewis, The Doomed Bird of Providence, Jacks Basket Room, Swarme of Beese, Victorias Big Easy, Allen Dobb, Peter Karp, and Mark Branscombe
Photo by Tom ReeseOur latest Short Cuts, a monthly feature where AUK casts a brief eye and ear on several albums we’ve received recently, which just didn’t make the cut for a full review. Like most major music websites, we can’t mention every album or EP we get sent, but we reckon the picks below deserve a nod. Click on the links to hear a song.Another fine batch of new releases to recommend, all without the help of those pesky algorithms, just good old-fashioned word of mouth. Up first, the Paula Boggs Band with Sumatra, a bold and melodic collection…
Pussy Riot and Avenged Sevenfold team up for sinister single Candy Dopamine as band announces debut album CYKA
Pussy Riot and Avenged Sevenfold have collaborated again on the new single Candy Dopamine, taken from their freshly-announced debut album CYKA. The project, led by Nadya Tolokonnikova, announced the album in typically powerful style at the Venice Biennale, known as the “Olympics of the art world”, to coincide with Russia’s controversial return to the event. CYKA will be released next Friday, June 12. Pussy Riot have also brought Avenged Sevenfold on board for the album’s lead single, with A7X returning the favour after releasing a new version of their song We Love You with them in 2023. “This song is…
‘ZENITH’ is a peak-time tech house release from AYUSH DATTANA built around hypnotic tension, rolling groove, and high-energy release. Inspired by the wonky, forward-pushing style of Walker & Royce, especially “Rise to the Sky”, the track focuses on building momentum inside the DAW rather than following a traditional songwriting path. Layer by layer, it rises into a euphoric drop designed to pull listeners straight into the middle of a packed dancefloor. Created in his private production suite, ‘ZENITH’ was shaped in close collaboration with his wife, who helped refine vocal hooks and rhythm details, giving the track extra precision for…
Last year Green Carnation released the first album in a trilogy written and recorded at the same time. They’ve followed A Dark Poem, Part I: The Shores Of Melancholia with A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis, which sees them pull inspiration from within, addressing an abusive childhood and loved ones in crisis. The weather in Norway may be grim, but Green Carnation singer Kjetil Nordhus and bassist/lyricist Stein Roger Sordal are in sunny spirits, ready to discuss new album A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis. The follow-up to last year’s The Shores Of Melancholia is the second entry in a trilogy…
Amy Jo: Hold Your Horses(Do Something Records)DL/StreamingOut NowAcclaimed UK country/pop singer Amy Jo has just released her new single, Hold Your Horses, on Do Something Records.Althought not the usual LTW fare, we have previously covered the artist, describing her as ‘a Morecambe Bay resident who sounds like a Nashville-era Taylor Swift’. Hold Your Horses was inspired by a conversation with a close male friend who revealed how tough it was to conform to certain ideas of masculinity that actually still prevail today – a sentiment that’s widely echoed in shows like Heartstopper, the existence of young- mental-health charities like Young…
