Lex Records celebrates more than two decades of boundary pushing music with LEX-XX, a new compilation bringing together twenty key tracks from the label’s back catalogue, remixed and reinterpreted by an impressive cast of collaborators.
The collection features contributions from Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, Danger Mouse, MF DOOM, Boards Of Canada and Thom Yorke, alongside King Krule’s grungy reworking of Eyedress’ billion streaming hit Jealous. Elsewhere, Madlib puts a funk fuelled spin on Fly Anakin’s No Dough, while Actress, HAAi, Vitalic and Gescom reshape tracks from Kaleida, Belief, Heartbreak and Kid Acne. The project also highlights some of Lex’s most distinctive collaborations, including Nevermen, Golden Rules, Neon Neon, Fly Anakin and Pink Siifu, Hymie’s Basement and JJ DOOM.
LEX-XX arrives digitally and as an ultra deluxe vinyl edition on 4th September. Limited to just 1,000 copies worldwide, the physical release features three 180g records in a triple gatefold sleeve, a large format book and a bespoke etched F side, celebrating a North London independent label that has championed adventurous, genre defying music since 2001.
